This Week's Feature:
"The Germs Will Murder You"
from At the Edge, a new musical by Alexandra H. Rubin and Mark Sanderlin
Back up vocals: Lily Goodman and Mark Sanderlin
Joe is a sixteen-year-old germaphobe who can’t handle living in a filthy world. When his OCD support group pressures him to relax, Joe tells them exactly why germs are so dangerous.
“The Germs Will Murder You” is the third germaphobia song written for At the Edge’s neurotic character, Joe. We needed something fun, upbeat and comedic for this foster-child-of-Woody-Allen type character. Alexandra thought of the first lyrics while riding the subway and watching a man sneeze wetly into his hand and then grab the nearest pole. Gross. With Mark’s lyric contributions and music, we had ourselves a winner. Third re-write’s the charm!
