It’s the year of action... therefore... here are the top 10.
By Pam Quinn (Writer)
I recently sat in front of a marathon of Lethal Weapon movies. Yes, it was a good time to be had. Anytime I can make a reference to Lethal Weapon movies in my plays... I’ll do it. I’ll do it hard. I realized I hadn’t done a top 10 in a while. So... here are my top ten favorite action movies of the last 10 years. LOOK OUT!!! (Get it? 'Cause that’s... that’s what people say... in action movies.)
10. SPIDERMAN
I enjoyed the first Spiderman, mostly because I was underexposed to the story of how Peter Parker became Spiderman and I’ve always been a fan of origins. Some say Spiderman 2 is better... and while I enjoyed that one as well... My heart’s with the first.
9. PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN
I really enjoyed this first one. I mean, Geoffrey Rush is amazing and the Jack Sparrow character hadn’t been played out yet. I couldn’t understand why God decided to make someone born in the year AFTER I was born look like Kira Knightley, but thankful that I am able to move my jaw like a normal human being.
8. THE BOURNE IDENTITY
These movies are fun. My favorite part is how nobody liked the idea of Damon playing Jason and he proved everyone wrong. Again, I’m an origin fan... so there we have it. (With the exception to # 3).
7. CHARLIES ANGELS FULL THROTTLE
Yes... I’m a chick and I eat these up. Dylan rules, however... I am partial to the villain in the first one :) I would have listed the first one, if it had been made in the last 10 years.
6.TAKEN
This movie makes me wish Liam Neeson was my father. Sorry, dad... I love you... but I don’t think singing “Epiphany” from Sweeney Todd is really gonna help when I’m kidnapped by a popular European sex trafficking club.
5. INCEPTION
Yes. I am a chick. 4 words : Murphy, Harding, Gordon-Levitt and DiCaprio. Bonerjam2010.
4. KILL BILL VOL. 1.
These movies are awesome. I watched them way later than I wanted to... but so is life. I’m glad I finally saw them and it became, not only my #4 action movie of all time, but may be the only thing I like Uma Thurman in.
3.RETURN OF THE KING
Now I know, I know I’ve stated previously that I am a lady of origin... but when I sat down for the 3rd movie in the Lord of the Rings trilogy... I was really blown away. Despite the 6 endings to this film... I was entrapped from beginning to end...end...end...end...end and end.
2. THE DARK KNIGHT
A couple weeks ago, I witnessed the preview for the 3rd Batman movie and my heart beat sped up. I. Can’t. Wait. For. This. Movie. I thought Dark Knight was incredible. Heath Ledger was phenomenal and you’ll notice a common theme through out these top 10’s... If Michael Caine is in it, it has a good shot of making the list.
1. BATMAN BEGINS
Ra’s al Ghul is one of my all time favorite Superhero Villains because not only is he a villain who is responsible for the birth of our superhero, but he’s also played by Liam Neeson in this film. It is also an origin and as someone who recently got into superheroes, it was nice to see.

Great piece! I was disappointed that Man On Fire did not make the list. I hope race had nothing to do with your exclusion of it. :)

Wow, upon revisit... these are definitely WHITE PEOPLE ACTION MOVIES. I think that's just coincidence... I really hope it's not a subconscious thing. I'm surprised, cause I'm usually only racist on Tuesdays. This blog was written on a Sunday....
