When western approaches to medicine, religion, and diet don't quite cut the proverbial mustard, the monkey has turned to the east. Never has this been more true than with astrology. HAPPY YEAR OF THE BLACK WATER DRAGON!
MONKEY BUSINESS by Tony Asaro (Composer/Librettist)
I have friends that are Scorpios. Their horoscopes always read like a trashy romance novel. Being a capricorn, mine typically go something like this:
Little clouds of anxiety sail in your mind today, however, it is on you to control your feelings. On a professional front you will be left worrying on account of various matters that lower your productivity at work. You will be disappointed to find a disturbed atmosphere at home along with work. Maintain your cool and you will feel better. You are suggested to reschedule your important meetings for a comparatively favorable day.
Gee, thanks…
See, Capricorns are described as "practical and prudent , ambitious and disciplined , patient and careful , humorous and reserved, pessimistic and fatalistic , miserly and grudging." Oh, it's loads of fun.
But having been born in January in 1977, in Chinese astrology, I am a RED FIRE DRAGON!
The dragon is the bad ass of Chinese astrology:
The key to the Dragon personality is that Dragons are the free spirits of the Zodiac. Conformation is a Dragon's curse. Rules and regulations are made for other people. Restrictions blow out the creative spark that is ready to flame into life. Dragons must be free and uninhibited. The Dragon is a beautiful creature, colorful and flamboyant. An extroverted bundle of energy, gifted and utterly irrepressible, everything Dragons do is on a grand scale - big ideas, ornate gestures, extreme ambitions. However, this behavior is natural and isn't meant for show. Because they are confident, fearless in the face of challenge, they are almost inevitably successful. Dragons usually make it to the top.
Way better. The "Red Fire" descriptor means that we're extra forceful, arrogant, and often wrong, but commanding, and inspiring, and exciting. I'll take that over "miserly and grudging" any day.
The chinese zodiac cycles every twelve years. This is my 36th year on the planet, so that means the year of the dragon is nigh!!!
Surprisingly, the zodiac calendar does not change with lunar new year. It officially switches this year on February 4th.
This year's dragon is the BLACK WATER DRAGON! I looked online to see what that means. And um... Well... I'm less excited about this year now that I know...
Dragon is a legendary animal and it is symbol of emperor in China. Since the Dragon is coated with mysterious color, Chinese consider that the dragon is unpredictable, untouchable and people cannot see its head and tail at the same time. Therefore, we can might see something unexpected happening in 2012. Also a person with many dragons in the Chinese astrology birth chart will become smarter, sly and unpredictable in the coming year.
OK... So far, it's OK. Unpredictable's not bad exactly.
2010 was the year of the White Tiger and was the beginning year of the Wood cycle. 2011 was the year of the White Rabbit and was the middle year of the Wood cycle. The Dragon of 2012 is the last year of the Wood cycle. Dragon is the transition year to the Fire Cycle. The energy of Wood is in the East side. The energy of Fire is in the South side. We never know what will happen when turning from East to South. That's another sign of unpredictable Dragon year. You can have either good luck or bad luck in 2012, and will have a chance to turn it into better or worse luck.
Uh huh...
There is taboo when a Dragon meets another Dragon from the yearly cycle. That means the year of Dragon won't be a good year for Dragon people. The sign of Chinese Horoscopes is that if a Dragon is passing by a town with a local Dragon tyrant in charge. If Dragon people can keep quiet, then they will be safe and pass the town. If Dragon people want to mess with or challenge the tyrant.
...challenge the tyrant...?
Also, more than one malignant stars arrive to Dragon people in 2012. Therefore, their people friendship, love relationship, money management or job competition might have some some impact in 2012. Dragon people shouldn't neglect the health and safety of themselves. In short, Dragon people should try not to make any mistakes. Do not expect any major prosperity in year of Dragon.
JESUS! "Try not to make any mistakes". SURE. Sounds great. That's a lot, malignant stars.
That was the general stuff. Now for the specifics:
Career: There is an argument sign coming for Dragon people. Therefore, the people relationship is poor in 2012. The pressure from the boss and troubles from customers will often come to you. You might have to do extra work and spend extra time on your daily tasks. But if you follow the direction of the wind , you can save your position. In short, you need to be patient and not have any conflicts with people. Otherwise, it will become an obstacle in your career development, and may even bring you lawsuit. Keeping a low profile is the key to preventing humiliation.
OK, so if I'm not careful, I'll get fired, and maybe even sued.
Love: The social relationship of Dragon people is poor in 2012. If you are in love, then sometimes you have to give in your opinion to avoid disagreement and quarrel. Otherwise, you might ruin the relationship. If you are single, then you don't have to rush to find your match. If you meet someone, you need to slowly build the relationship. Usually, Dragon people have a better chance to get along well with other people born in year of Chicken. It's important that you must not blame on yourself if the relationship is broken. Married people should not not let money issues disturb your love relationship.
AND my relationships will be rocky. (DON'T LEAVE ME, NICO!!!)
Health: Because of the pressure from career and money, Dragon people may not have a long-lasting good mood in 2012. which will impact health. Therefore, Dragon people need to focus on their health. They need need enough sleep and rest. They shouldn't miss regular meals. It's good idea to attend more social activities. There is a minor injury sign this year, so they should drive very carefully on the road and try to avoid dangerous sports.
AND I'm gonna die. FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC!
Luckily for me, my lucky sign is wood, and it looks like that might offset some of the "tyrant challenging" bad luck.
If you have strong wood, (and OBVIOUSLY I have strong wood), your luck will be good this year. Water can help Wood (tree) growing. That means Wood can become strong with the support of Water. But if the birth chart already has lots of Water, then Wood might be rooted out when extra Water comes. Luckily, Dragon contains Earth and Wood, which can help Wood survive in the Water.
Water is the mother element of Wood. Water represents parents, mentors, elders, protection, teachers, knowledge, education, medicine and/or health. Therefore, people who care you a lot will often be in contact with you in 2012. They will give you good support and good reputation. You will earn a lot of knowledge from their advice, and bring up your confidence.
OK, so maybe I shouldn't freak out just yet. Still, part of me longs for those boring Capricorn posts about investing, and loyal friendships.
Well, whatever the YEAR OF THE BLACK WATER DRAGON holds for me, may it hold many blessings and abundant joy for you!
