Don't be scurred to have fun. It doesn't make you any less of an artiste.

Alright, kiddos. Gotta keep this one kinda short (I know. You're crushed.).
Papa's going to Fire Island for a week starting today but my brain has been there since Monday.
Having said that, I would like to share with you an eye-opening experience I had yesterday.
As you may know, if you are an obsessed superfan of my hilarious yet insightful writing, I am a manny to a couple of French families on the Upper East Side.
When I'm not feeding the kids escargot and discussing with them the merits of a semi-socialist government, I'm usually hanging out with them at one of their many extracurricular activities.
Yesteday morning (At 9am!!! I'm very dedicated to them, obvi), I traveled to the Lycee Francais to see little Lily's end of the year show, which was entitled, Tirez La Langue - or, in English, Stick Out Your Tongue.
Gross. I know.
Anyway, the kids were absolutely adorable and they had a blast up there on that little French auditorium stage.
It got me to thinking:
Sometimes I feel like I'm so worried about getting the next job and improving my "process" (ugh...so obnoxious) that I forget to...well...enjoy myself.
I forget that the reason I became a performer at all is because it's just totally and completely and awesomely fun.
So the next time you're in the middle of preparing for a big audition or sitting through your eleventh hour on your third day of tech rehearsals or just wondering why you didn't major in economics, take a moment and remind yourself that you are an artist because you enjoy it and because it reminds you of the time you stood in front of your entire school in the auditorium and felt like a star.
Now...off to the beach!
AND NOW...THE WEEK IN WHITNEY HOUSTON!!!!
This one time, Whitney Houston wore a red leather suit while singing Aretha Franklin's hit, Ain't No Way, with Mary J. Blige - who looked like she got in a fight with a rag doll and lost. Enjoy!!!
