GRowwwwwwwlllll that's my stomach. Everything on here looks amazing. Especially those deep fried avacados. Can you give me the ranchero sauce recipe? I found a place that made enchiladas but they served them with mole sauce or verde. I got the mole sauce. It was ok. I had good enchiladas when I was a kid. We used to have a restaurant in New Hampshire called Tortilla Flats that actually made Really GOOD Mexican food and a real Marguerita. I was so sad when they closed.

Here's a recipe I found online.... I'm not a cook, so I've never tried to make it myself, lol.

I love that you are willing to teach a NYC chef how to make chile con queso!!!!

David Davila

hahahaha....... it's not hard right? Am I crazy to think they should be serving it at the only nacho bar in NYC?

Loved reading this, my sentiments exactly! I'm actually in the valley right now, on my agenda..eat all those things you've just talked about :) hope u don't mind but I'm gonna share this.

As a cheesaholic, I truly appreciated this and am now drooling all over myself. As a New Yorker I tend to think NYC is the center of the universe. But after my cross country drive to LA last year I had 'Tex-Mex' for the first time and gotta say, NYC, you don't know what you're missing!
Thanks!

Brandy

You're not crazy, AT ALL!!! I'm surprised there isn't some place that sells it!!!

I am suddenly so f'ing hungry right now. QUESO!!!!!!

What a magical blog post (with some of the most amazing pictures I have ever seen). Having lived in the South, I am a huge fan of the country fried steak/chicken... though for some reason out of all the photos, I can't take my eyes off the shrimp cocktail and stuffed avocados.

Amanda

Just start you're own nacho bar, you'll make a killing : )

Alison

There should be a warning if you haven't eaten yet today. :-P And I'm ALL for a David Davila nacho bar in NYC. It would be on my "places I must visit on every vacation" list. ;-)

Christine

This is awesome!! I'm homesick already, and I was just in the Rio Grande Valley for five weeks!

Ramiro

Great article! If we didn't eat these foods too often, we'd be the 147th fattest city in America!!

Vivian Cadena

I love this!!! All of it is so true. Tex-Mex food is the BEST in the world, but unfortunately, the worst for our health.

David Davila

It is truly one of my dreams to start a tex-mex nacho bar in NYC..... I'm just too busy trying to start a theatre company right now, lol... that would TAKE OVER my life if I attempted it... Of course if anyone else wants to invest, and hire on as an adviser, I'd be more than happy to oblige ;)
