How to make this years Halloween significantly better than the last.
By Pam Quinn (Writer)
I don’t know if any of you heard the story of my experiences LAST HALLOWEEN. The weather was horrible, my costume collapsed upon itself like a dying star halfway through the party I threw and some guy died in my building the night of said party. It was pretty terrible and all I can do is cross my fingers that this year is going to be much better. I’d like to start a lil chart called THIS YEAR vs. LAST. This year, I plan on doing EVERYTHING the same, but adding one little TWIST to hope for a different outcome:
|

COSTUME |

- 2011 vs. 2012
- Last year, I started as a DEXTER VICTIM... then something went horribly awry with my saran wrapped costume and I had to switch halfway through the party to Rachel Berry from Glee... I know... but it was the only last minute costume I could gather.
- Last year the party was thrown at my house in Woodside Queens and this year we’ll be at a cafe in Sunnyside Queens.
- While both parties are scheduled the weekend before Halloween, I’m choosing to do it on a Friday night instead of a Saturday.
- Weather.com says this year will be FAR better than last.
- My neighbor this year has equal opportunity to sporadically collapse in the night, however.. I’ve chosen to host the party AWAY from the apartment.
- Last year I watched The Exorcist right up to the Halloween party and even played it DURING said party. This year, I plan on introducing the movie THE SHINING to my roommate who has never seen it.
The biggest change I’m making this year is that I’m NOT throwing a house party. I like where I live and the last thing I need is to repeat the trauma of hearing the terrifying screams of a girl who’s lost her father whilst I sleep.
So cross your fingers that this one will prevail. It doesn’t have to try too hard.
