Having seen ZERO of the potential nominees this year I'm gonna go ahead and make my early prediction based on the glorious wonders of their movie trailers ;)

Pumpkin Lattes are back and that can only mean one thing; it’s Oscar season y’all! Oscar racing has been one of my favorite hobbies since I was in middle school, as I try to watch every single nominated movie before the big day when we put on our tuxes and drink champagne and pretend that we’re participating from one of our gay friend’s living rooms.
This year will be especially fun as critics and bloggers are calling it the first “year of the art house film” since 1996, when THE ENGLISH PATIENT won Best Picture.
What they mean is that there are fifteen to twenty really really good movies competing for critical attention. You may be saying “That’s just too many films for me to see before the Oscars.” But you’d be surprised to find out you have over four months to watch those films.
If you start now, you could easily win your Oscar Party Pool and impress all your friends with your cinephile elite status.
Personally I like to predict the Oscars based on movie trailers, so I’m gonna go ahead and make my NO GUTS NO GLORY predictions for this year’s best picture category based soley on these movie’s marketing and advertising teams. I mean advertisements are accurate portrayals of real life right?
It should be noted that I also consider which movie studios and production companies make these films, as these studios are competiting against each other to get their movies in. It is highly unlikely that a studio will have more than one film nominated, but it can happen as Miramax, and the Weinstein Company have proven before.
Here’s my BEST PICTURE nominee predictions for the 2012 Academy Awards:
SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK – The Weinstein Company
LES MISERABLES – Universal / Working Title
See the rest after the jump...
DJANGO UNCHAINED - The Weinstein Company
LINCOLN - 20th Century Fox / Dreamworks
CLOUD ATLAS - Warner Bros.
THE MASTER - The Weinstein Company
BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD – Fox Search Light
ARGO - Warner Bros.
LOOPER - TriStar
ANNA KARENINA - Focus Features
Based on my film studio rule, it would seem that probably DJANGO UNCHAINED won't get nominatd, but oh well.... I'm gonna hope that it gets in because I love Tarantino!
Some of these trailers are FAMAZING; especially the CLOUD ATLAS trailer!!!! Early reports are that CLOUD ATLAS is a bit thin, and doesn't live up to the awesome trailer, and to that I say "DAMN!" Give those trailer editors an Oscar for making me feel inspired and sweeping me into the crazy saga.
I can't wait to see that movie. It's trailers like this that make us LOVE getting to the movies early and for that reason I think we should have an Oscar category for BEST TRAILER.
... and now for the 90's jam of the week, brought to you by the babydoll shoe and hushpuppy revival of 1995... and that classic Clueless soundtrack that still makes me smile after all these years. Here's No Doubt with their very first hit song. This was one of those songs where you remember EXACTLY where you were the first time you heard it, and knew immediately that it was going to be a game changer.
I was on my way to a middle school tennis match, it was 5:45 am, and I was listening to American Top 40.... it debuted at #39.
