But I can't tell you anything about the actual film because I signed a stupid waiver...
By David Davila (Playwright / Songwriter)
Last week I attended an industry screening of the new film version of the long-running Broadway musical, Les Miserables, and I'm DYING to tell you all about it. Unfortunately, because the film technically hasn't had it's opening night yet (and can therefore still be re-edited etc.), I can't give you my full review JUST YET...
(The International trailer of LES MISERABLES.)
I must say, that like many of you I have been tracking the making of this film for what seems like years. Les Miserables was one of the very first musicals I fell in love with. My fifteen year old self knew every single word to the entire three hour shebang, and along with Miss Saigon, Rent, and A Chorus Line; it's one of the reasons I got into this business.
I'm not allowed to tell you anything about the actual movie till the official opening, but I can tell you that in that movie theatre I was transformed back into my fifteen year old self, as if I were discovering musical theatre for the first time.
Now, since I'm not allowed to TELL you what I thought about the Les Miserables movie, I guess I'm going to have to SHOW you:
Basically, I can't wait for YOU to see it... and I can't wait to see it again myself!!!! #OBSESSED
...and now for the 90's jam of the week. In honor of a possible Academy Award sweep this year, I'll remind you of the famous 90's sweep that the radio would NOT let you forget even if you tried.
