Actor, singer, and dancer, Chad Brunswick announced via his twitter that he is a “proud gay man.” The news comes on the heels of a rash number of outings in the media following the recent verdicts from the US Supreme Court. Chad, a dancer in several notable Broadway musicals such as PHANTOM OF THE OPERA and CHICAGO, said he "could not hold the secret in any longer."
Family and friends of the triple-threat performer were shocked at the news and took to the blogosphere to share their surprise. There is now wide speculation that his roommate of seven years, Chris Kirtley of WICKED, may in fact be his lover. Brunswick however, was unfazed by the chatter.
“When I heard that WMBA player, Sharnee Zoll-Norman, came out last week I was torn between a lot of emotions. On one hand, I want to be able to be myself, but on the other hand I have a career to think of. Her bravery really touched a place deep within me and I spent the last week debating whether or not I could keep this secret any longer. Finally I just said to myself, if a female professional athlete can come out, then certainly I can too.”
Chad remains optimistic that his decision will not effect his chances of being cast in future shows. With all the publicity that his courageous story brings, there may be negative side effects but he hopes that the attention will not deter Broadway producers and casting directors from giving him a chance. He is currently in final callbacks for the International tour of MAMMA MIA!
“I really need this job,” chad sings, quoting a popular lyric from the hit musical, A CHORUS LINE. “I know a lot of people feel like they’re the only gay person out there, but I want them to know that it simply isn’t true. Look at me, I work on Broadway, and I’m gay. You are not alone.”
(If you're wondering why it's a big deal that Chad Brunswick, a chorus boy, comes out of the closet, you're missing the point of the article. There is no Chad Brusnwick - I made him up. It's called sarcasm. We live in an age where people should not have to hide who they are anymore - ever! If you are shocked that a WMBA player is gay then you are living in a blanket of denial and you need to wake up and see the world around you. Chorus Boys, and professional female athletes are most often gay - probably four out of five times. Wake up! Take a look around you and see the world for what it actually is. You can't pretend that homosexuals don't exist. You can't pretend that global warming doesn't exist. You can't pretend that war, and famine, and AIDS, and basic economic principles like supply and demand don't exist. They all exist. Wake up!)
... and now for the 90's jam of the week, brought to you by ADAN Y JULIO, a tale of two teenage boys in love caught on different sides of the deadly Mexican drug cartel wars.
In honor of these Mexican love birds I give you this hot jam by Mrs. Tommy Mattola, aka Thalia, the Mexican pop princess who became the most famous woman in the world when her hit Spanish soap opera, MARIA LA DEL BARRIO, became the most syndicated television show on Earth - surpassing I LOVE LUCY. This jam used to come up at school dances in South Texas and the closeted/didn't-realize-they-were-gay-yet kids would go C.R.A.Z.Y. It's your turn to enjoy. ;)
