Happy First of August Crazytowners! In celebration of summer come and comedy!
-By Leah Bonnema
Congratulations to Ophira Einsenberg who's book "Screw Everyone: How I Slept My Way To Monogamy" is being optioned for a movie! Ophira is one of my favorite New York City stand up comics. She is smart, hilarious,a genuine person who is not an asshole. I am so excited for her I can't tell you (although I am telling you). Please check out Ophira's book (buy it, buy it), listen to her on NPR's Ask Me Another (she is the host) and go see her live! Her is a little tidbit to wet your proverbial whistles:
Come to The Creek and the Cave for Compa Bonnema Cinema Classics. Sunday, August 4th, as an homage to the late, great James Gandolfini, we present TRUE ROMANCE. This movie quite possibly contains some of THE best quotes coming out of the 90's era.
SECOND BREAKFAST will be served! SB includes unlimited mimosas and/or mocktails (for those of us who don't drink because we can't remember where we know people and just pray when last we saw them we had clothes on) and choice of breakfast burrito, chorizo sausage & biscuits, or spinach omelette for $10 (plus tip). Or just come for the movie (and A/C), and tip a little for Tony the tech guy, who comes in early to help us set up!
TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT! It's the First Thursday of the month and that means it is Modern Day Philosophers! Get to The Creek and The Cave at 7:30 for a half hour open vodka bar (what?!?! YES!!!) and then at 8pm watch some of our favorite comedians perform (FREE - what?!YESSSS! NO Cover!): Mike Cannon (MTV, VH1, Sirius Satelite Radio), Anna Drezen (Huffington Post, MTVu), Ben Conrad (The Cranky Pants Comedy Hour @ 1 and 1), Dave Lester(Writer: Who's Got Jokes?), Mike Drucker (Writer for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon) and hosted by the eminent Tim Warner and this scifi movie marathon.
