Don’t get me wrong, I love New York. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. But there are times, though they be few and far between, where I wish I could just say “fuck it all!” and live like a hermit away from all human contact.

Those moments when you’re stuck behind a crowd of slowly moving tourists and you’re ten minutes late for an appointment. When you enter the subway only to find that the MTA has once again suspended service on your train due to a mild rainstorm. When that grant, theater, or audition rejects you for the 100th time. There are countless instances where you just want to pack it all up and go live like Thoreau in the woods. But honestly, who has the wherewithal and willpower to actually do it? Well, now thanks to the internet, instead of uprooting your entire life you can do the next best thing:

This is Cabin Porn, a great little tumblr blog a friend of mine just introduced to me.

Yeah. That's what I'm talking about.

Cabin Porn is hundreds and hundreds of pictures of sequestered living spaces far, far away from the annoyance that are society and other human beings.

Whenever you’re feeling the stress of city life, I suggest you just pop on over to this website and go for a browse. Imagine yourself in the middle of nowhere with not a care in the world, just you and all that nature…ohhh yeah…yeah, that’s nice…mmm, that’s some good cabin action right there…

What? We all need a little respite every now and then.

INSPIRATION IS BUILDING

Finding inspiration in Architecture.

I know next to nothing about architecture.  But last year I realized for the first time how inspired I was by it.  Places that have unique and striking architcture - and most places do, if you look for it - somehow stand out in my mind. 

I see, in my mind's eye, people milling about, going in and out of these places.  Buildings weathering the weather, setting a backdrop that's perhaps surprisingly modern or unexpectedly old-fashioned.  The life that happens inside and out.

Architecture is interactive art.  You walk in it, up it, around it.  It has a direct effect on your behavior in ways you don't even realize.

For me, architecture is music to my eyes.
